‘We know that anti-LGBTI+ bills will not remain with us alone!’ We Are All Targets

#WeAllAreTargeted #AyrıkOtu While legal and ideological attacks targeting LGBTI+ individuals continue unabated in Turkey, similar disinformation campaigns are also attracting attention in the European Union. Human rights expert Defne Güzel discussed the omnibus bill, leaked on February 27, 2025, that directly targets LGBTI+ individuals; the implications of the proposed amendments to Article 40 of the Civil Code for transgender individuals; how access to the right to healthcare is restricted; how physicians are pressured through criminal sanctions; and how all these regulations contradict international law; the anti-LGBTI+ bill submitted to parliament by HUDA PAR on April 24; how gender equality is being criminalized; and the call of 15 LGBTI+ associations declaring #WeAllAreTargeted. She explained why these bills and drafts concern all of us and how the public should be informed during this process.
